So, how was everyone's weekend? Did everyone get a holiday off on Monday? My DH did. Good for him. He works too hard.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On Saturday, we went to visit Jeffrey and we took him a beautiful silk flower arrangement that had been pre-made. I decided that it looked so simple, that I'm going to start doing them from now on. Anyway, his grass looks beautiful! We have been fertilizing it, and watering it, and it's been growing so fast (thus we need to mow it more frequently); and It is so green!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've always wanted to create a flower boarder around his place so that his would be distinguishable from the others. But DH kept giving me reasons why it wouldn't work, because the flowers would be mowed over. I suggested that we could weed whack the grass. He didn't like that idea. I had thought about that, but kept thinking there must be a way! I had pretty much given it up, cuz I knew the flowers would be mowed and then we would need to replace them, and that would be often.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, a new grave was placed, and the family did exactly what I wanted to do! They put small silk roses around the grave! I went to look at it. They had a string of tiny roses held down by, what looked like long staples (I don't know what they would be called). I got excited, but DH noticed that the grass was weed whacked and it did not look good. Sadly, I had to agree. POOH!
So, the last time that DH mowed the grass, he edged the grass around Jeffrey's area. It looks very nice! Especially, since the whole area around us has not been kept up like we do for Jeffrey's place.
~Anyway, we watered the grass and talked to Jeffrey for a while. ~
My heart goes out to those families & friends, whom
have had to memorialize a loved one this weekend.
Although, those of us who have lost a loved one,
know that we memorialize them every day.
Just catching up (but not on sleep) ... This was interesting to read -- I guess they don't have endowment care there. Of course, my grandparents are in one of the Forest Lawn-ey cemeteries ... oops "memorial park" -- here in San Diego. Now to comment on the water thingey!
One of our Grow Together members just buried her 8 year old son. He wasn't expected to live past six months.
They have reveled in his strength. And, then one day, he just went down. i've learned that loss and feel that loss -- since the loss of Jeffrey...
I love that you memorialize his life. Keep doing so. Keep setting the precidence. :-) In Love, ME
PRO: Yeah, go figure. But, since we'd rather make sure it's done right, we don't mind.
