Pay It Forward

A very cool thing happened to me yesterday. I stopped at our local grocers to pick up some cool drinks (beer ~ well, I was going to see FW); anyway, I was in the 10 or less grocery line, and there was this lady in front of me. She was just talking away to the man in front of her, just happy as a lark, just talking about nothing and everything.
The man left and then, there was only me! So, this lady turns to me and starts talking about why she is purchasing roses (for a co-worker), and she sees my beer (a 12 pack) and says "Whoa... I'm going home with you!" I said, "Come on, the more the merrier!"
So, as the checker is scanning her roses, she asks "is this all"? And, I say (as I point to my beer) "And, this too!"
The checker looks at me - then looks at the lady - and, I quickly say "NO, I was just kidding! That's mine." And the lady says, yes, put it on my tab, I'll buy it.
I say "No!, I was just kidding!" We go through this conversation at least twice, but when the checker looks at the lady with a questioning look, the lady says, yes, I'm buying that.
She leaves both the Checker and I with wide open mouths!
We can't believe that!
Meanwhile the lady keeps chattering cheerfully, while I thank her at least 3 times; and she says "Just pay it forward." I tell her I will. Cool huh? So, now, I'm looking forward to the next time when I can Pay it Forward.

It's HOT in Here!!

So, the majorly HOT weather has begun! When that happens, I like to be, either beside a swimming pool, or in AC (preferably in a movie theatre)!
Our AC has been out for a while (hopefully, we will be able to get it fixed soon ~ we're working on that); anyway, while we are waiting for that, we have 3 window units scattered about the house. Sadly, our home has windows that are sideways and will not hold a unit. Three of those rooms are at the very back, and one of those rooms is where our computer is! The heat that is generated from the computer is massive! (Does anyone else have this problem with computers? Is there a way to fix that?!) So, the computer heat plus the outside/inside heat is miserable.

We've been reaching 100 + degree heat index, and it is about that in here! I've discovered that I will need try and get on the computer before 3:00, that's when it gets unbearable! And, maybe late in the evening. WHEW!!

STAY COOL, Y'ALL!!

72 Yr Old Woman Tasered!

For those of you who didn't hear this news story, check it out on UTube! There is a lot of controversy whether this old woman should have been tasered or not. I think that the cops are getting taser happy and think they are holier than thou; well some of them. I mean, just because a small old lady has big nasty mouth.... come on.....
Small world ~ the other night we were out with some long time friends and this news story came up. Lo and behold ~ This 72 yr old woman was our friend's ex-mother in law!! Needless to say, y'all can figure out who at our dinner table thinks she deserved the taser! LOL

Going Away ~ Again

Let's see..... not too much has happened. Nope. I did not find not even ONE 4 Leaf Clover! Not even One! Pooh.
So, we are leaving tomorrow morning (DH/alarm goes off at 5:00a.m.) so we can leave for Dallas to see The Teacher!! Yea!
I've been packing since Monday, a little here, a little there. You know, laundry, ironing, and packing, packing..... I didn't pack anything last night because as soon as I ate dinner, I fell asleep in the chair watching a movie with DH. That was about 7:30p.m. What?! I don't do that, my DH does! So, when the action scene from the movie came on, it was so loud it woke me! So, I left for bed!
You see, the night before (Tuesday), I could NOT go to SLEEP!! I tried to sleep, tossed and turned for an hour. Got up took sleep aid. Tossed and turned for 2 more hrs. By then, I had a terrible headache. So, I got up, by then it was 3:30 a.m., and went to the couch to sleep. Yeah, right. I tried to watch some tv, but my eyes were hurting too, so I just got an ice pack.
I needed to get up at 5:30 a.m. to take DH to work so I could have the truck, cuz I had plans with FW and Lil Gal to get Mani/Pedi's!
I think I actually got 2 hrs sleep, maybe. That's why the early chair sleep thing happened. LOL
I figured out the reason I could sleep was that I had a diet soda (w/caffeine) at dinner! I'll never do that again!
So, we got our man/pedi's, I downed Iced Tea like crazy (don't like coffee); and I was awake for all my errands and play time at FW's! Then off to get DH and home for dinner!
So, now, we're off for our daughter's home! I get to stay the week, but DH has to come back for work on Sunday. Pooh.
I probably won't have access to computer. So, I'll see y'all when I get back!
Be safe, everyone!

Jury Duty

Yesterday, I had to go to Jury Duty. UGH. Well, I wasn't in the group they let go in the morning! I was let go that early once........ sigh.......
I ended up staying all freakn day! Got a lot of reading in though (that's the good part)! I was put into a group that the jury panel would be selected from. The Court Administrator's assistant got sick about 15 minutes into the many announcements/instructions; so that made the day even longer. {It was funny when all these cell phones started going off and my neighbor and I were snickering and counting how many went off.} The Aministrator even called out one guy that was actually talking on his cell! About 11:30, they told us to take a break and to be back at 2:30. Oh joy.
So, I grabbed some lunch, then headed for the book store. I was concerned I would finish my book and then have nothing to read! The way this was dragging on, I didn't want to be left without anything to read! So, I grabbed some other books also, to read while in the store. I had almost 2 hrs left!
We sat another hour or so waiting for them to finish up the rest of the peeps to go to the many different courts. We were all given cards with numbers on them. Mine was 18. Weird coincidence, that is my birthday number. Hmm.. Then we were led to the Security metal detector walk through. So glad I left all my guns and sharp tools at home! WHEW! Uh, you know, being Texan and all.
When we reached upstairs, we had to wait outside of the courtroom until we were given permission to go in. It was 30 minutes later when the officer came back to tell us the Judge was running late. Oh joy. So it was another 30 minutes that we sat/stood in the hall until the Judge arrived.
After being seated, the Assistant District Attorney started voir dire (asking us questions to weed us out). It was a DWI case. We were all asked about our drinking and driving habits; if we'd ever been given the sobriety test, whether charged, jail time served, etc., even if it happened 20 years ago. Oh that was fun. Really, funny. Lots of embarrassing laughs throughout the potential jurors. And, how we felt about police officers. Well it was worded differently, but along with some others, I had a comment.
I told them I had a problem with them. As, I had once asked for help and they refused to help me. People! I think that was it! That was when they decided I would not be on the jury! WooHoo!
I looked over at the defendant, and he looked hopeful that they would pick me! Sorry dude!
But, that was just my feelings about the local cops. Really folks, my feelings about the cops would have not deterred me from listening to the facts and going from there.
We were let out into the hall for 10 more minutes so they could choose the jury. While out in the hall, there was another coincidence! A lady walked over to me and asked if I was in the Compassionate Friends group. I told her yes. Well what do you know?! She had been sitting besides me (#19) the whole time, and we never knew! You see, we were engrossed in our books and didn't want to chat (and we had only met one time before). They let go at 5:15, just in time for rush hour! Long day. (Sorry for the book.)

Something Weird Happened Today...

My DH and I were returning from tidying up Jeffrey's place, and heading home. When, all of a sudden - a red truck (color really doesn't matter, but it was a beautiful new red Chevy w/a crew cab, and waxed beautifully!); anyway, the truck pulled up next to us and rolled down his window and told DH that he could fix that ding on the side of our truck, right now!
I was a little leary, but DH pulled in a parking lot right after him. They both got out and looked at the ding, and he explained what he would do. He wanted $110 for the job, but DH talked him down to $60. Very Cool. Yup, here down south, we can negotiate price changes .. uh, out on the street.
So, the young man started working on the "ding" (as he called it, but which was really huge dent/scrape!) and he was explaining everything he was doing, and told DH how to fix the other small part the he was not equipped to do right then. It looks beautiful! He really did a great job! And, only for $60!!
And, that's all it took for DH to come home and immediately wash and wax the truck! :)

Warning..Warning..Danger Will Robinson.. Danger!

A while back, I purchased 2 weather radios, and gave one to my daughter and one to my mom. They had been having severe weather; like hail, tornadoes, and just the worst of it for many months. Our daughter called us one night, just freaked out, because the winds were very strong, and there was heavy rain and hail, that she woke up and was very scared! Her dog didn't help matters as he was continuously barking his high pitched bark at the storm!

All the power was out and it sounded like a tornado. So we checked the weather over there and there was a tornado warning! We freaked out too and as calm as we could, told her what precautions to take. The storm finally left her area and when morning came there were several trees knocked down. Tornadoes had touched down. Thankfully, she was alright.
NOTE: We are having a severe thunder storm with hail and possible tornadoes heading our way right now! Gonna hurry and type this so I can turn off computer!
So, I bought them two different kinds because the store only had one of the radio I bought my mom a different one. Mom couldn't make heads or tails of it, so I bought her a different, easier one to work. And, she gave us the radio we first gave her.
Anyway, the first time we had a severe thunderstorm warning, this weather radio and set it up.
One day I was watching tv, and I heard this LOUD musical sound along with BEEP, BEEP, BEEP over and over again. I muted the tv and followed the sound. It was the weather radio. That sound scared me Sh__less!! The storm was far enough away and never made it this way. That sound scared me more than the storm report!
So, today it's been going off cuz a severe storm is headed our way and might make it here in an hour or so.
I had to laugh at myself after I realized there that scary sound came from! LOL!!
TTYL!

It's getting hot in here!

Watching George Strait videos on UTube. Whoooo..... It's getting HOT in here! Wish I could get some videos in here! I'm working on it.

singing at the CBS special honoring George Strait, "The King Of Country", ACM Artist of the Decade. Event took place at the Las Vegas ...

Did anyone see King George's All Star Concert? This was a tribute to King George for his many years of concerts, and making beautiful music for all of us! This tribute was passing the torch of Decade of the Year, to him.
I've uploaded what I believe to be the best performances out of all of the singers of the night, excluding George, of course. Let's hope they take. Agghh... they wouldn't take so, above are the sites if anyone is a Fan of King George.
