Always Something New to find and lick and/or chew

Just like grand children (who can go home); friend's children (that you can leave their home); It seems that I am the relative/friend who is stuck with a darn cute little puppy that is so adorable, but, yet..... very active and annoying all the time.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Every time I open the fridge or freezer, she sticks here little head in there and begins to lick the fridge. When I open the freezer, she licks the frosted mugs we keep in there for ice cold beer. I'm so afraid that her little tongue will get stuck! LOL I've got to make sure I'm extra careful shutting those doors! And, she is still underfoot and making me trip!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I believe I have now made the computer room "puppy safe", so she can come in here while I am in here. HaHa... she was licking the vacuum cleaner earlier. :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I still do not hear her get up, in order to catch her before she pees on the carpet! I don't hear the jingle of her tags until she is in the hall coming this way. Aaggghhh....
So, we go outside so she can potty, and then let her run ragged through the yard hoping she will tire herself out! She still finds my Ivy scrumptious. I've moved the largest one on top of an outdoor table. Amazingly, she hasn't figured that one out yet!

I was so frustrated yesterday when she was in her "hyper" mood, and she was jumping all over me, scratching my legs and arms as I pushed her away, then she would grab my favorite robe that I used as a cover up (it used to be Jeffrey's) and grab it with her sharklike sharp teeth and pull! I just had to pull her mouth open and extract it! She also drags her claws at my chair while jumping up and down.

Reading some material online, I found an easy solution to keep her from jumping on me:
The first time she jumps on me, I'm supposed to look the other way and ignore her. She will loose interest cuz I am not giving her the attention by pushing her away, which in turns makes her continue to jump on me cuz to her, it looks like I am playing with her!
Then, when she drops to the floor, I'm supposed to say "Good Piper" or "Good Girl". I tried it once last night. It worked once. I suppose I will see as time goes by.
Wish me luck!

PS: FW, I am reading the article in my book about children with Boxers. :)

Memed by Kay

I was just memed by Kay, of "Musings" so I thought I would play along, cuz usually, I don't bother with this stuff. But, Kay is such a sweet and thoughtful person, so here goes:

This meme is a simple one. Collect the book that you have most handy, turn to page 161, find the 5th complete sentence and cite the sentence on your blog. Next, of course, is to pass it onto five other bloggers.
Here is mine:
The book I'm reading right now is The Boxer.

Fifth Sentence: Vitamins and other essential nutrients are often dispensed by injection to keep up the dog's strength while he is unable to eat normally.

Let's see how many will to play along!

Puppy Snoring Away!

Well, I guess I must have worn Piper out in the back yard! She is sleeping away!

Then again, she is a 'pup' and she needs her naps just like a baby!

Ah.... time for the computer again... :)

New Pup & Staying Up Late Don't Mix

Dang @#$%#%!@&* frkn dog! Ok, so I drank just a little too much wine last night. And, stayed up until the wee hours of the morning playing computer games....
Trying to sleep late w/a new pup is impossible!! DH put Piper on the bed w/me like he does every morning. She was frisky and wanted to play, so I put her back in her kennel. She whined a little, so I ignored it and went back to sleep. Every now and them I heard her again.
At about 7:00a.m. (when we usually get up) she was bucking like a bronco trying to get out! So I figured she needed to go pottie. So, now we're both up.
I'm thinking.... no walk today! Groan.....

I fill her food & water bowl, then sit to watch morning news shows until I wake up. She comes up to my (upholstered) recliner, and starts jumping on it trying to get to me and raking her long sharp nails on the chair! AAGGGHHH!!!!!!! Don't tear up my new chairs!!
So, I put the recliner down and now she's jumping on my legs. I push her away and say no. Now, she thinks I'm playing with her so she won't stop! I've got scratches on my legs and my arms that are stinging!

I've already taken her out twice, hoping she would use up her energy outside. Didn't last. Even though she has perfectly good food inside, she insists on eating my plants. :(

Now we are inside and she's playing with her toys. UhOh... where did she go?? I start searching the house cuz she's not potty trained yet. I start out at a run... and she is lying on the kitchen floor (right behind my chair) looking at me like "what?" She does this a few times in various spots. After running around (didn't realize our house was so big!); It takes me a few minutes to locate her, and she is very close by.... under the table, next to my chair! Whew!

Then, at some point, she comes and sits in front of me, staring at me with those big brown puppy eyes, and all calm... and my heart melts. That is..... until she starts all over again!

Piper's Naps Must Come To An End......Eventually

When Piper naps, I run to the computer until she wakes. The problem is.... that I only hear her when she is drinking water cuz her tags hit the metal water dish. She always decides to take a pee before drinking water! AAgghh!!

I looked around for poop. Didn't find any. (yet) I took her outside to finish up.... but, all she was interested in was eating my ivy. Even tho, I pulled her away from it and told her nooooo.....
Then we came inside and she promptly tossed her chew bone in the air and it landed in her water dish! LOL (she couldn't get it out - I had to)

So, the only way I'm in the computer room is that I have blocked the doorway with a large mirror that fits perfectly in the doorway and she is playing with the pup in the mirror! LOL

I don't think that will last, so I better say "adios" for awhile and get back on later! OH, she knows I'm back here and has howled for the first time! How cuutttteeeee!!!!!

Waking Up With An 8 week old Puppy

This is from a dog's perspective, narrated by Dez, with comments also by Dez (Lord and Master):

Dez: DH wakes 5ish, takes Piper out of her kennel, then to potty, and then puts in bed with Dez, as he readies for work.
Piper: Oh boy! In a real bed! Oh boy! There's Dez! I love her! I'm gonna show her that I do... LICK, LICK, LICKITY LICK, LICK ....

Dez: Nooooo.... (as I gently push her to lay down) and slur "lay down andgotosleepp..."

I do this about 5 times, as I have a bad headache and only want to back to sleep. She finally lays next to me and I feel her moving. Stop, gotosleep...(still slurring)... I look at her and feel her cuz she won't stop moving. OH, she has the hiccups! So DH gives her water and takes her outside again. Then she gets back in bed & tell her to laydown&go to sleep.
Piper: Oooo... This looks comfy. I'm gonna lay down on Dez's upper arm, right next to her ear.

Dez: Oh crap. Now, I can't squirm about the bed like I like to do. Double crap: She's snoring!!!

Dez: Trying to go back to sleep, I finally turn over and see this light through my eyelids. Dang, DH forgot to turn the patio light off! I open my eyes. Oh.... it's not the patio light, It's daylight! Crap again! Might as well get up and take something for my headache.
Dez: Gotta eat something before I take Excedrin. I sit down to eat.

Piper: YEA! She's up!!! Gotta play.... gotta play...... I know! I'll jump up on her legs while she's sitting down, That'll get her attention.
Dez: Ok, ok... We'll go for a walk!! Brkfst only half eaten, but enough to take pills.
Piper: Yea, Yea.... It worked!! I'm so excited, I think I'll beat her to the bathroom!

Dez: As I head to the bathroom to get ready, I almost trip several times with Piper under foot!
Piper decides to take a pee and a poop, since this is a room she has not been in. AAAGGGHHH!!!!
Dez: We are out the door, in which I had to practically drag her out, cuz she HATES the leash!

Piper: Yuck! That pink thing around my neck that won't let me go anywhere I want to go! I think I will try to chew it off!
Dez: As I try to pull her down the sidewalk without choking her, I have to stop several times.
Piper: OH BOY! Dez is playing Tug Of War with me!! Since I can't chew the leash off, I'll play tug of war!!! Oh boy... Oh boy!!!
Piper: Oooooo... Ooooo..... now, I'll run in and out of her legs to check out both sides of the side walk!
Dez: Aaaggghhh... (to self: don't trip and fall ... don't trip and fall...)
This is our walk for the entire block back to our home. The only time Piper really walks/jogs straight forward, is when she recognizes our home and runs straight for the door!
Hmm.... You'd think she would want to stay out! LOL
Ah, so much to write. Gonna close up now and read some of your blogs I've been missing, before she WAKES UP!! Too late! She's UP! Gotta see what she's into now!

NEW PUPPY!!

Hi y'all, I know... It's been a while. I've got to hurry and post this while the "pup" is napping!
First Gary.... I wanted to say Thank you for sending the dinosaur mugs to my nephews, and the extra goody too! They LOVE them!
My brother sent me this picture entitled: Bed Hair and our new favorite drinking mugs!!
I don't have a picture of Piper yet! I still have to learn how to download pics from my phone to the computer! Will learn tonight! My DH promised me!
For starters, I did not grow up with dogs, so when we first married, DH insisted we get a dog. Then we had a family of our own, and after our first pet died, I said "NO more dogs!" I was not used to them in the house... "hair, poop, pee, licking, barking, getting in the way, getting on furniture... You name it, I had a reason!" LOL!!!
My daughter would bring home stray after stray (we didn't keep them). Then she went off to college and her boyfriend bought her "a puppy"! Since she was a freshman living in a dorm, we kept her. Her name was Penny and she was a super dog! A little too big for me... but I grew to love her all the same. She was a lab mix and looked like a miniature Laborador. We haven't had a dog since she passed away about 6 years ago.
My daughter has a Tea Cup Yorkie "Bently", whom I just love, and think she is the "perfect" size! She wanted to get a pal for Bently, as Bently is 6 yrs old. The teacher has always wanted a Boxer and bought one this past week. We went to visit this weekend, and since we had so much fun with her The Teacher insisted that we take her! I swore that we would not have a dog until we replaced all the carpet! Well, she twisted our arms. We brought Piper home. We are reading all about Boxers, and Boy! I wish we had a mutt instead! Don't get me wrong, she is fun and of course a puppy! Who doesn't love a puppy?!
The books say Boxers are "Energetic" and must be active and directed at all times, in order for them to behave, and also to be trained early on; as they are naturally "very active dogs".
Uh Oh, I hear she is up from her nap. Gotta go.
I'll try to upload pics tonight!
TTYL!!
