NaNa NaNa NaNa NaNa.... BATMAN! And, Home Improvements

~~~~~~We have been working towards getting some major work done on our home. You know $$ is always a factor. But, we've started! I was telling DH about how a blogger friend's husband is getting a lot of repairs done around the house! You see, she supervises and her husband, and he does the work! It's a match made in Heaven! (K, do you recognize yourself?) I'm trying the supervising thing out. So far so good!
~~~So, after bragging about all of the repairs/remodeling her husband is doing, maybe I just struck a nerve with my DH. Maybe not, but whatever, he started with something minor. We got rid of our curtains and put in blinds! I'm not sure what kind of window treatment I might add yet. Anyway, it looks very nice!

~~~Here is a picture of Batman on the Mantel ledge that my son put there when he was little... maybe about 11yrs? One day a few years back, when Jeffrey was about 20 I guess, I was dusting and decided to take down Batman. We've gotten used to it being there so we never really noticed it there. Well, when Jeffrey saw what I was doing, He got all excited and said "NO".... Please put Batman back! He belongs there! I want him to stay there. (Sweet, huh?)
~~~~Well, I was surprised, but had to smile that he still wanted Batman to hang around, possibly to remind us of his childhood (do young men actually think like that - or is that just my wording? lol); but, since he still collected many Batman, and super hero comics, it meant a lot to him whatever the case. It made me nostalgic, and I placed Batman back on the ledge.
~~~~ To this day, Batman is still there, and I imagine it will remain there as long as I am alive. Hmm.... maybe I should put that in my will. :) Nice memories. Always thinking of some of them.
Actually this reminds me a lot of my son who is sentimental about certain things. There were several boxes of really well used (almost destroyed) toys that he played hard with. I was going to get rid of them when we moved from Chicago to Hawaii. Well, Jon came home to check on what we were doing and .... well.... to make a long story short... It's here in Hawaii with us in our crawl space... again.
Actually, I'm glad we kept it. It reminds me of Jon just as Batman has Jeffrey's smile locked in.
Love your new window treatments! Tell DH he did a great job! Art would heartily approve.
Kay: Aw, how sweet, that Jon wanted to keep his toys. He probably should display them in his home, in some way.
I will tell DH that you approve (especially since y'all were his inspiration, or mine?). LOL
Way to go Uncle J! And, the blinds look really nice in there! I love the light! :-)
That is going to totally facelift that room!
Groan, Yes, it looks nice and a needed change... but you know how much I like the dark. :~
We left a stuffed "church mouse" at our last church. We hid him on a library shelf. I wonder if anyone has noticed him there? (I hope so, or he's REALLY dusty by now!)
Congrats on your home improvements! Right now, we're just trying to keep the house from falling apart...
Love, love, love your story about Batman. Batman must truly have a home on the ledge. I think it is a sweet sign of love. And the blinds are so nice, could you send your hubby here so he could install some for us?? I have wanted some for years but no one has the patience (!) to install them! Oh, my 30 year old son hangs on to everything as well!!
Kcinnova: How cute! Well, I hope that the church mouse has a good home. :) Thanks. We have a lot more repair to do too!
Cheryl: Aw, a 30 yr old packrat. :)
How sweet! I didn't think most boys were like that, but I'm finding out different.
I'll tell Jesse that he's been requested for a window treatment job! LOL
Queen: Please tell me about your "fanny pack of pebbles" if you're up to it.
TT: Yeah, maybe they would appreciate it that if they didn't have us, they would screw up!
Yeah, I love the Batman story too. :) It's little things like this that we appreciate, even more, now.
