The other day, Piper escaped underneath the desk, tangling herself in the wires, while I was sitting there, and managed to pull down the keyboard and whatever the wires pulled down off the desk, including my computer glasses! One minute is all it took. I saw her run under there, screamed and pulled her out, everything went flying, including my computer glasses! I literally saw them go up, up, but I had more important things to tend to, "Piper". After I banned her from the computer room, I could not find my glasses anywhere!
It took me 3 days to find my glasses (ok, not every minute was dedicated to searching for the glasses). I ended up finding them between the desk and the hard drive. I guess that's one way to clean off the desk!
Ok, how many people have children go off to college, and then they get their own home, and decide that they own the bed they slept in as a child, so they want it for their own guest room? Well, that's what our daughter did, after the bed was in our home while she was in college for 7 years (graduate school), then she lived in an apartment for 3 years before she bought a home. What were we to do? We bought a double air bed, comfy these days, but not so wide as to move around. So we just bought a "Queen" air bed, which is great cuz it practically blows up itself and deflates itself. That is.... unless you have a rambunctious dog.
Our daughter is coming home on Tuesday, so we are getting her room ready, and Piper just got all excited and couldn't stop barking AND JUMPING on the bed while Jesse was blowing it up! He had to get her down several times, as she was jumping like a bunny rabbit! She just loved that it bounced!!! OMG!!! Just like a kid!!! Well... POOH!!! She punctured a hole in the bed!!
Luckily we had the repair kit, and it seems to be working fine, but now we have to keep that door closed, and No telling what's gonna happen when daughter brings her 5lb Yorkie with her and Piper tries to jump on the bed!!
Oh, it's just something exciting we get to look forward to. :~D

PIPER, NO!
What kind of dog is Piper? Is there a pic of her anywhere? She sounds like a mischievous one!
And it's funny to hear a mom's perspective on the bed thing because when I buy my house in the spring, I was fully intending to take "my" bed from my parents' house! Haha. :)
Em
You are a very patient Doggie Mommy, Dez. Wow! She could actualy puncture a hole in the air bed?
Gary: Yes, Piper NO!
Em: That's too funny! Are you taking the bed for a guest room?
There are several pictures of Piper in earlier posts. She is a 6 month old Bringle Boxer. I need to update her growth with more pictures. There's quite a story about Piper!
Kay: You say the nicest things! Yes! And, we had her nails clipped about 6 weeks ago. This was a NEW Queen sized bed we got for some company a couple of weeks ago. And it cost a Lot! Not gonna tell how much, but I wanted a good one that would last. Next time I need to look for one that reads on the box, "Piper Proof"!
Em: F.Y.I. Look at the posts at begining the end of June, that's when we got Piper.
How about standing the air bed up in the room, against the wall? That way Piper might not be tempted to attack it! Isn't it funny what dogs get all excited over, I can almost picture in my mind Piper having a field day with the air mattress! I now have about six pairs of cheap reading glasses scattered throughout the house so I can always find a pair. I cannot bring myself to hang them from my neck quie yet, makes me think of a real old lady, and I don't need to look anymore like one than I do :)
Cheryl, that's a great idea! She was jumping on it like one of those blow up castles at a child's party!
I know what you mean about the glasses. Even though I've seen some pretty chains, I just remember my grandmother wearing them.
Went and looked at puppy pics of Piper! She's sooooooo cute!! I love Boxers! My parents have a boxer, and so does my brother!! They're precious dogs. But yes, hard to calm down. They need a lot of discipline, structure, and training. And patience. But they're easy to love. And they love to please. :)
And yes, I want the bed for my guest room. :)
Em
Em: HA! You children! Well, I guesssss.... since it was your childhood bed..... :~D;
It's gonna take time to get a "real" bed for that room, but, as my 4yr old daughter used to say: "So, who cares?" .
OH, so you know about Boxers, We are trying to train her, but, we are not as consistant as we should be. Yes, she is Smart as a whip, and you can just see it in her eyes, all she wants to do is learn! I hear that Boxers are "hyper" for 2 years. Others say FOREVER! What is your family's experience? We took some pictures tonight to show how big she has grown! Will try to get them on asap. :)
How long they stay hyper definitely depends on the amount of discipline and structure they get. They thrive on routine and firmness.
My brother took his dog to puppy school at PetSmart, so he calmed down sufficiently by the time he was a year and a half old.
My parents' dog is a pound puppy and had no formal training, and he just recently turned two. He obeys pretty well, but he still gets a little mischievous every now and then. He is sufficiently more hyper than my brother's dog, but it's tolerable because he's so sweet and well behaved most of the time. And he is definitely calmer than he was at a year old.
A friend of mine in college had a boxer that she gave NO training to, and that darn thing never calmed down and was the worst-behaved dog I'd ever met, at least until she got her next dog, who was even worse. But that was HER fault, not the dogs' fault. She is just the kind of person who should never own a dog because she doesn't give them the training, love, and discipline they need in order to learn how to be good.
My advice - be as consistent as possible. Also, be as firm in your discipline as you can. She'll forgive you very quickly for punishing her, and she'll also learn from her mistakes and do her best to behave next time around. Like I said, boxers are people-pleasers, so if you're unhappy with her, she's unhappy with herself and will do her best to figure out how to make you happy again and avoid doing whatever she did that made you unhappy.
They also need a lot of love and attention and special praise when they do things the right way.
They are an extremely smart breed but very excitable, so a rigorous discipline will pay off for everyone in the end. Keep at it - she'll come around. The longevity of the hyperness is solely dependent upon the trainers!
Good luck! You won't regret having her. Boxers are the best. :)

Thanks for your advice Em. It sounds like we are at least going in the right direction! :)
