ThanksGiving & More

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
~~~We were supposed to go straight to our daughter's home, but at the last minute, changed our plans to go to Austin (and had our daughter join us); Hubby wanted to have TG with his father. He had just gotten out of surgery for hernia removal (botched colonoscopy related), and was fresh out of the hospital.
We stayed with my SIL & BIL and their 2 children (19 & 21); and their 2 rat terriers, our daughter's Tea Cup Yorkie, Bently (5lbs), and of course, Piper (35lbs). We got there Wednesday night.
OMG! The dogs went NUTS!! Only one of the terriers ran circles with Piper in the big backyard. Then when they were all inside, Piper wanted to play so, all 35 lbs of her jumped and boxed her big paws at the little ones. NONE of them liked it at all and viciously attacked her! At first, Piper didn't know what to do and kept playing with them. She finally realized she was being attacked, so she joined in the growling and nips here and there. There were some scratched noses and tufts of hair flying in the air. And, the echos of the growling and barks were LOUD! Then we had the adults all scrambling to grab their dogs and screaming at them to behave! Yeah, right... a lot of good that did! We diagnosed the little dogs with the Napoleon Syndrome. LOL
On TG day, we were chased out of the kitchen while SIL & BIL cooked. So, I went to visit my mom before dinner, then I went back for dinner; then went back to visit my mom to watch the Cowboys play; and was planning to go back just before the Longhorns played so we could watch it together. Did anyone see the game?? OMG!!! It was some exciting game! And, of course, the Longhorns won, which made it even more SWEET!
While I was at moms during the Cowboys game, Daughter texted me that FIL had busted some staples from his wound and he was bleeding. She said all were upset and crying, so I came on back to the house. By the time I got there, all was fine. FIL had lay down and the bleeding had stopped. Apparently, he was Not supposed to sit up straight; either lay down, or recline. Hubby & BIL took them home, and then we watched the game.
Friday we left for Dallas, and had 3 days to spend alone with our daughter, so we thought. Daughter's friends/neighbors had invited us for dinner that same night that we drove in, so we went straight over there for dinner. On Saturday, we went out for dinner, glad to have some time to ourselves. We were finally able to speak of Jeffrey, noting that this was the 3rd year without our Jeffrey at Thanksgiving. We spoke some loving words, and then made a toast to him, telling him that we loved him and missed him everyday. On Sunday night, some of daughter's friends came over for a visit, and after a while, hubby and I retreated to the den to watch FB (he did) and I read. We got home on Monday night.
Oh Yeah! Napoleon Bently and Big Piper constantly were at eachother! Napoleon was always the instigator.... Well, sort of..... But, in all fairness... Piper just wanted to play. :)
~~~Ah, not much quality time with our daughter. Maybe Christmas will be different.

Whew...you certainly had a very busy holiday. Nothing like having to come home from a vacation or trip and have to recuperate from it :) Ah, another dog with NS! That is what our Buddy has! Poor Piper must have wondered why the little dogs were nipping and growling while she just wanted to play. I hope your FIL is on the mend finally. I bet Christmas with your daughter will be great!

Cheryl: Yes, it was busy. Went very fast and had our heads spinning.
But, Buddy is a medium/big dog?
Yes, I think you are right. Christmas will be a good family time, here at home, with Jeffrey and his things.

Holey Moley! You really did have a dog fight on your hands. Wow! Glad they were OK.

I didn't know you could botch a colonoscopy. Sheesh! Something else to worry about.

I'm glad you were all able to feel Jeffrey's presense at your Thanksgiving celebration and could send out your loving thoughts to him. Sending you cyber hugs from over here.

Dog Wars, huh? The little ones can be so fiesty! Wondering if Piper is big enough now to give Dulce a run for her money :-)

I wish life would slow down a little. Glad y'all had a good visit.

I miss the Teacher/Daughter. ;-)
